Most of them don't grasp why they would need to speak Swedish. The idea behind Svenskkul is that speaking Swedish should be fun. The children should get to know other Swedish children and feel a part of a Swedish community. At the same time there was a need to be able to help each other teach the kids to read Swedish, to give them a chance to study in Sweden should they want to.
